We've banned Sol3:2 for 3 weeks. This comment is uncivil and was reported multiple times. Other comments have been reported in the past for similar reasons.
I want to note that criticism can be extremely valuable, and we have a slightly higher bar for taking mod action against criticism. But referring to analyses of HLI's work as "autistic" clearly violates core Forum norms and is above that bar. I think it’s possible to outline strong disagreements while still following our norms, and we’d want to see this from Sol3:2 in the future.
If Sol3:2 thinks that th...
We’ve banned Vee from the Forum for 1 year. Their content seems to be primarily or significantly AI-generated,[1] and it’s not clear that they’re using it to share thoughts they endorse and have carefully engaged with. (This had come up before on one of their posts.) Our current policy on AI-generated content makes it clear that we’ll be stricter when moderating AI-generated content. Vee’s content doesn’t meet the standards of the Forum.
If Vee thinks that this is not right, they can appeal. If they come back, we’ll be checking to make sure that their ...
Hi Tomas,
Forum Mod here. It seems like many people didn't like the comment you're replying to. My read is that you're trying to humorously push back on Vasco's comment. But while humor is often neglected on the EA Forum, saying "this comment is stupid" does not provide Vasco with any information on how to improve his comment, and is pretty mean. This is a warning.
We're issuing matty a 1-week ban for this comment thread; matty’s comments here are counterproductive and not a type of discourse acceptable on the Forum. They’re very rhetorically loaded (and almost entirely phrased in the form of rhetorical questions — a bad idea for a collaborative discussion) and they don’t seem to be serious or remotely charitable attempts to understand Vasco’s point of view.
E.g. I don’t think that a reasonable reader can actually believe that Vasco’s answer to matty’s question here — “So the thing wrong with breeding, murdering and e...

This comment is breaking Forum norms. It is too harsh. I would like to see more appreciation for the human on the other side of the screen and a collaborative mindset. You can do that while still maintaining a strong stance against the reasoning you don't like.
We're banning Manbearpanda for 1 month. Their recent responses on this post have been condescending, overconfident, and uncivil. Responding to a comment by referring to the discussion as "'Effective' 'Altruists' circle jerking around yet another wrong answer" is not a good way to get to the truth behind a disagreement. I also don't think it was reasonable or helpful to dismiss a comment in the discussion as "rambling, poorly formatted and incoherent." And the last comment seemed to totally devolve into an ad hominem and passive-aggressive attack.
Please not...
We’re issuing John Salter a two-month ban for using multiple accounts to vote on the same posts and comments, and in one instance for commenting in a thread pretending to be two different users.
This is against the Forum norms around using multiple accounts. Votes are really important for the Forum: they provide feedback to authors and signal to readers what other users found most valuable, so we need to be particularly strict in discouraging this kind of vote manipulation.
A note on timing: the comment mentioned above is 7 months ol... (read more)
