Together we’ll discuss Great Power Conflict, or how military confrontations between states could affect the course of humanity’s history. War is incredibly complex, and we hope these conversations will bring some clarity to the topic. We might look at the causes of war/conflict/competition/cooperation, modern day concerns (AI, US-Chinese relations, etc), and what potential interventions look like.
By the end of the evening, we aim to have a better understanding of why some in the effective altruism community see it as a “potential highest priority area” and what are the points of greatest concern. Can humanity be nudged towards peaceful cooperation and away from war?
As always, this event is open to anyone. No background knowledge is needed, we will provide background info, context, definitions, and suggested discussion. Please RSVP so I can plan for enough drinks & snacks.
